Tesla, Let’s Play Nice Huh?

Tesla, Let’s Play Nice Huh?

Tesla? You mean the guy who created electricity as we know it? What about him? Oh, he makes cars now? I thought he was dead.

WOW. People who don't know a thing about cars and automotive news can be so ignorant, can’t they? Fortunately we are there to counterbalance that ignorance!

Nowadays, it seems like Tesla is making automotive news on a daily basis. It started by going head-to-head with rival company, Fisker, and coming out on top since Fisker has essentially dissolved. Though its popularity can be attributed to luck, we are betting it has something to do with the effortless beauty and enthusiastic performance of its mainstream model, the Model S. So many consumers have responded positively to the Model S that Tesla has amped up production and if things continue as they are, the company can be producing up to 800 copies of the Model S by the end of 2014. For a company that initially projected 400 copies per week, at most, which is what they are currently producing, 800 copies will increase production to two times its current productivity, justifying the company’s surprising success.

Riding on the coattails of its own success, Tesla has devised two new models that it will release in the near future – the Model X SUV and a smaller, premium entry-level electric automobile to slot below the Model S, both in size and price. The latter of these two will surely allow for a younger target market to embrace the brand even more than they already have with the Model S. The former will ensure the target market grows considerably as well, as SUVs are essentially the most popular and best-selling types of vehicles in the automotive market today.

CEO of Tesla, Elon Musk, has proven to not only be ambitious, but fearless as well. When asked about Tesla’s future plans, he proclaimed, "If it moves, we'll make it." He was referring to Tesla's future plans of dominating the automotive industry. The company's current production facility has the capability of producing up to 500,000 units. Though that number is still very far off for the budding California company, Musk is convinced that it is a realistic goal for Tesla in the future.

What pleases us the most is the fact that electric vehicles are now being produced with striking designs that are difficult to ignore. Electric cars that once looked like the pathetic Honda Insight, like a caterpillar that didn’t know which hole to crawl into and hide from society, are now sprouting out as striking butterflies that cannot wait to spread their wings. Are automakers finally learning to mesh brains and beauty into their products? If so, Tesla Model S surely gets an A+.

Bottom Line: The only reason Nikola Tesla might be turning in his grave is because he can’t wait to get out and get behind the wheel of his namesake automobile. Here’s to Tesla's continued success!
